shorely wall

Post by pixie »

it's been a very long time since shorely wall was released, and if its location was ever conclusively found, i failed to notice. so was it ever confirmed as being somewhere, or will the band now let us know where it is? it has been almost 10 years, after all. i need some closure here!

I think someone posted a link to a live on-air performance Ooberman did for Mark Radcliffe (I think it was him) around the time Carried Away was released... I think the subject was discussed as part of the interview. I tried searching for it quickly but I couldn't find it... but hunt around and you should find it.

It's on the east coast, near Skegness.
There was a competition to find it (to win the band's NME Brat award).
One clue I remember is the boat in the Shorley Wall video was called 'two miles north of Gibraltar) which is Gibraltar Point, which is here

Weird, that's where my family are from. Not Gibraltar point but actually Gibraltar, here:

but surely it can't be, not if there's meant to be an ocean involved (and i do remember them saying that there was definitely an ocean involved, that's why the song mentions it so much). the east coast looks on to the north sea, the only place on this land mass which is on an ocean is in the west of scotland:

i very confuddled now = (

criticising Dan isn't blasphemy, it's practically de rigeur for Ooberfans
honey pie, i don't know when it started, just stop buying your albums from the supermarket. They only sell records that have charted.

A lorry driver dug it up. I think if you search the tube, he posted a pic of it at one point...
